1. [Hanwha Defense Affiliates] Participated in DefExpo, India’s Largest Defense Exhibition

DefExpo, which has its 11th anniversary this year, is the largest defense exhibition in India, with 1,000 companies from over 70 countries participating.

Hanwha’s defense affiliates, Hanwha Corporation, Hanwha Defense, and Hanwha Systems, participated in the largest scale among Korean companies to target India and Southwest Asia.

Hanwha’s defense affiliates participated in the international defense exhibition ’DefExpo 2020’, held in Lucknow, India, and opened an integrated booth of 250 square meters to introduce the latest ground weapon systems and advanced defense electronics products for the Indian market.

We hope that Hanwha’s defense business will expand globally by actively targeting the Indian defense market, which is expected to grow rapidly.

2. [LIFEPLUS: Hanwha Financial Division’s Brand] Won the iF Design Award

LIFEPLUS has gained worldwide recognition not only in finance but also in design!

Following last year’s Red Dot Design Award, LIFEPLUS won the main prize at this year’s iF Design Awards, winning two of the world's top three design awards.

It received excellent reviews for interpreting the value of ’finance that makes customers’ lives better’ into symbols, logotypes, fonts, and goods as an active life.

LIFEPLUS will continue to pursue activities that allow customers to directly experience and share brand values beyond design.

3. [Hanwha Precision Machinery] Participated in the IPC APEX Exhibition

Hanwha Precision Machinery participated in IPC APEX, the largest SMT exhibition in North America, held every year in San Diego. It was a good opportunity to promote the excellence of Hanwha brand products in the North American market.

The main product that Hanwha Precision Machinery exhibited at this IPC APEX was the HM520, a high-speed chip mounter.

In particular, the technology of Hanwha Precision Machinery, which is highly optimized for 5G, aviation/defense, and the latest display and consumer electronics, has received great acclaim from customers in the North American market who visited the exhibition.

1. [Hanwha’s Financial Division] Prepares for the future of finance at ’Money 20/20 Asia’

Hanwha financial affiliates participated in ’Money 20/20 Asia’ for the first time. More than 1,400 companies participated including IT companies, financial groups, large companies such as Google, IBM, Citigroup and Standard Chartered, and startups.

At the conference, representatives of Hanwha financial affiliates including CEOs and Dong Won Kim, Chief Digital Officer and Head of Global Business of Hanwha Life, attended sessions and discussions on various topics in the financial service sector such as cryptocurrency and tokenization, platform ecology, and payment settlement.

Through this conference, Hanwha financial affiliates expanded the network further to Asian and global markets.

2. [Lifeplus: Hanwha Financial Division’s Brand] Launched its new brand identity

LIFEPLUS, a co-brand of Hanwha financial affiliates (Hanwha Life Insurance, Hanwha General Insurance, Hanwha Investment & Securities, Hanwha Asset Management and Hanwha Savings bank), has been providing content and services that focus on customers ’lives’ beyond the paradigm of traditional banking since launching the brand in 2017.

The new BI was designed by Hara Kenya, art director of ’MUJI’ known as a brand without a brand.

Hara Kenya embraced the philosophy of the “LIFEPLUS” brand that provides services tailored to the changing lifestyle of the individual, expecting the individual to change and grow positively with the dynamics of life while meeting the value of “LIFEPLUS.”

They have a plan to develop various campaigns focusing on four themes: Financial, Physical, Mental and Inspirational.

We will support “LIFEPLUS” to provide new experiences and opportunities in customers’ lives and to engage in various activities.

3. [Hanwha Systems] Signed business cooperation in the fields of drone and Unmanned Aerial Vehicle(UAV)

Hanwha Systems and Ucon System signed a memorandum of understanding for comprehensive business cooperation in the field of drones and UAV.

The agreement will combine the drone and unmanned defense system capability of Hanwha Systems and the experience of developing the unmanned aircraft of Ucon System. They plan to tackle the overseas market to find new business in the security field such as boundary monitoring systems and safer cities program. They will also nurture professional technical personnel and cooperate in equipment purchasing and maintenance.

Through this MoU, we hope large companies and small enterprises work together and look forward to opening new opportunities not only in national defense but also in the civilian and overseas markets.

4. [Hanwha Systems] Held the Win-Win Growth Seminar 2019

Coexistence means cooperating and living well together.

Hanwha Corporation held the Win-Win Growth Seminar 2019 in Seoul and Changwon and shared major plans for mutual growth this year.

Hanwha Corporation will provide financial support such as mutual funds and payment terms, as well as support for strengthening the competitiveness of partner companies such as management/ technical support and compulsory legal education.

Meanwhile, the ICT division of Hanwha Systems promised to cooperate with partner companies during the year at the Win-Win Growth Agreement Ceremony. In particular, Hanwha Systems ICT division will provide additional benefits such as changing payment terms, unit price hikes, and financial support.

2. [Hanwha Life] Held a compliance management declaration ceremony

Hanwha Life conducted a declaration ceremony of ethics compliance in the 63 Building.

Hanwha Life emphasizes the need for proper standards and principles of value judgment in order to gain the trust of its customers and society. The company plans to strengthen compliance training that has been conducted annually for the employees and also plans to implement a compliance and ethics education program of the Group

Vice president Cha Nam-gyu said that if the employees look back at the strict normative perspective of “compliance,” they will find their shortcomings. And he emphasized that all of employees have to commit to achieving compliance based on good faith and global-level compliance management.

3. [Hanwha Precision Machinery, Hanwha Techwin] Participated in APEX and InterSec 2019

Hanwha Precision Machinery launched the new expansion HM520 at APEX 2019 for the first time in the Americas.

Hanwha Precision Machinery has created a Smart Factory Zone to demonstrate real-world interoperability between software and devices, and remote control functions via tablet PC or Smart Watch.

We look forward to Hanwha Precision Machinery’s success as a global SMT total solution company based on its excellent technology.

Meanwhile, Hanwha Techwin participated as a global video security company in InterSec 2019, the largest security exhibition in the Middle East, held in Dubai from February 20th to 22nd.

Hanwha Techwin organized the exhibition booth into four experience-type zones under the theme of “Safety Security Solutions in Everyday Areas”. It attracted attention by introducing AI solution that responds quickly when abnormal behavior is detected and sends alarm quickly.

Hanwha Techwin will continue to invest in cyber security and AI solutions after this exhibition and plans to do its best to be competitive in those fields.

4. [Hanwha Group] Communications Committee hosted the 2019 Brand Forum

Hanwha Communications Committee hosted the 2019 Hanwha Brand Forum at the Hanwha Building in Janggyo-dong. This forum was attended by executives and employees who led the brand management of each affiliate.

Starting with the introduction of the Group brand campaign strategy and major programs in 2019, they had time to share best practices from a total of four companies that pursued great brand strategies this year.

They also had an opportunity to hear about Hanwha Investment & Securities’ successful branding and content marketing initiatives, including the brand story and campaign of Defense Starategy and Business Development, Lifeplus, which is the new brand launched by financial affiliates of Hanwha group, and Hanwha Hotels & Resorts FC division.

And then, a strategic communication seminar was held in order to enhance the communication and brand competitiveness of the Group.

5. [Hanwha Engineering & Construction] Government delegation visits Iraq Bismayah site

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Korea and Iraq. A government delegation, led by Han Byung-do, President Moon Jae-in's special adviser for Iraq, visited the Hanwha E&C construction site at Bismayah in Iraq.

Special envoy Han Byung-do admired the construction site of the world’s largest PC plant and the largest overseas project.

The Bismayah City project is a project to build the largest new town in Iraq with a population of 600,000. It will be the first city in Iraq to be installed as a city without telephone poles.

Hanwha E&C plans to continue its efforts with a new housing paradigm for Iraqi people who have lost their homes due to a long war and IS.

1. [Hanwha Group] Participated in World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2019

The Group has participated in the World Economic Forum in Davos for 10 years starting in 2010 and has searched for the direction of change to become an 'Infinite Enterprise' that will prevail in the future. Participants took part in the main sessions and discussions of the Davos Forum on the subject of the "Fourth Industrial Revolution" and were concerned with the direction of changes in the global economic structure.

At the World Economic Forum held in Davos, Switzerland, Kim Dong-kwan, Chief Commercial Officer of Hanwha Q. CELLS, Kim Dong-won, Head of Fintech & Innovation Center of Hanwha Life Insurance, Shin Hyun-woo, CEO of Hanwha Aerospace, and CEO Kim Yong-hyun of Hanwha Asset Management participated in the forum. They were active in exchange and cooperation in over 50 business meetings with the global leaders.

The group also tried to promote the 'Hanwha' and 'Korea' as a brand around Davos during the World Economic Forum.

Through the World Economic Forum, the Group focused on finding ways to move its global business capabilities into an 'Infinite Enterprise' during a period of revolutionary change. As a result, we will support the Group to take the lead in the future in an uncertain global management environment.

2. [Hanwha Defense] Was newly launched by integration of Defense affiliates (Hanwha Land Systems, Hanwha Defense)

The Group’s defense affiliates, Hanwha Land Systems and Hanwha Defense merged and began as a new company ‘Hanwha Defense’. As a result, Hanwha Group’s defense affiliates have been restructured as Hanwha Corporation, Hanwha Aerospace, Hanwha Systems and Hanwha Defense. Hanwha Defense held an unveiling ceremony for 'Integrated CI' aiming to achieve '4 trillion won in sales in 2025 and reach 20th place in global defense companies' ranking.

Through this integration, the company is able to raise their global competitiveness by realizing economies of scale by increasing assets and sales, and expect positive effects in terms of management efficiency and cost reduction.

Hanwha Defense plans to concentrate its core competencies on global competitiveness by actively participating in large-scale global projects. We will support Hanwha Defense, which will continue to grow in the global market by securing product competitiveness from existing weapon systems to future weapons systems.

3. [Hanwha Q CELLS] Ranked 1st in German solar module market share

Germany has secured high economic efficiency with renewable energy compared to coal and gas, and there is a constant demand for high efficiency products mainly in the residential and commercial markets. Hanwha Q. CELLS has achieved the top position in the German market by producing high-efficiency premium solar modules based on Q.ANTUM technology, which improves the output and long-term stability of photo-voltaic products.

Hanwha Q Cells launched Q HOME, a total energy solution for households, which combines all the necessary functions for the home from energy production to storage and management, and Q FLAT, a commercial solar installation solution, to provide customers with a high level of convenience.

In addition, Hanwha Q CELLS expanded its sales network with Q.PARTNER, a specialized partner program, and became a familiar brand to European consumers through marketing at sports events.

Based on the unrivaled technology and the product competitiveness, we are looking forward to Hanwha Q CELLS leading in the domestic market as well as the world market.

4. [Hanwha Total Petrochemical] Invests and expands its Daesan plant, and selected as the safest workplace

Hanwha Total strengthened its core business competitiveness through large-scale investment. The total investment amount is 530 billion won and it is expected to grow in the chemical business market in the future.

Hanwha Total plans to expand the annual production capacity of the Daesan Plant to 400,000 tons of polypropylene, 150,000 tons of ethylene and 40,000 tons of propylene per year. And the expansion construction will proceed with the goal of completion by the end of the year 2020.

First, when the polypropylene plant is completed with an investment of 380 billion won, the annual production capacity of polypropylene will increase to 1.12million tons, which will be ranked number one in the domestic market.
Polypropylene is a plastic material widely used in electric and electronic materials, automobile interior and exterior materials, film and packaging materials, and Hanwha Total will continue to grow in the global market.

Hanwha Total expects that this expansion will maximize the production and operation efficiency of the plant by expanding the production balance and facilities of the Daesan plant as a whole.

1. [Hanwha Group] Chairman Seung Youn Kim Visited Vietnam

On December 6th, Chairman Seung Youn Kim attended the ceremony for the completion of the Hanwha Aerospace Aircraft Engine Parts Plant at Hòa Lạc Hi-Tech Park in Hanoi, Vietnam.

The ceremony was attended by more than 300 officials, including Chairman Seung Youn Kim, Vice-Chairman Geum Choon-soo, Hanwha Aerospace CEO Shin Hyun-woo, Head of Fintech & Innovation Center of Hanwha Life Insurance Kim Dong-won, First Deputy Prime Minister of Vietnam Truong Hoa Binh, Chairman of the Central Economic Committee of Vietnam Nguyen Van Binh, and Science and Technology Minister of Vietnam Chu Ngoc Anh.

The new Hanwha Aerospace plant is about 100,000 square meters, making it the first large-scale aerospace component factory in Vietnam. The Group says by 2022 it will invest 4 trillion won in overseas advancement of aircraft parts and defense industries. Based on this, they plan to actively promote the aviation engine business of Hanwha Aerospace in the future.

Chairman's visit to Vietnam has strengthened our relationship as a global partner and helped local executives and employees morale. We look forward to seeing Hanwha rise in Korea and around the world.

2. [Hanwha Group] Hanwha Founder Chong-Hee Kim Honored with Korean Academic Society of Business Administration CEO Grand Prix

Chong-Hee Kim, the founder of Hanhwa Group, has devoted his entire life to the national community. Based on the founding principle of "Serving The Country Through The Business", he achieved domestic production of gunpowder. Chairman Kim was inducted into the Korea Entrepreneurship Hall of Fame in recognition of his unwavering commitment to the Republic of Korea's economy.

Hanwha founder Chong-Hee Kim, who participated in the post-war rehabilitation and economic development of Korea, started the Hanwha Group manufacturing business with a view to contribute to society and the nation through business. 3. [Hanwha Group] Introduction of Hanwha Group Affiliates in Vietnam

Vietnam, where Chairman Seung Youn Kim recently visited, has a unique culture and is popular as a tourist destination. It's been booming lately, and it's one of the emerging markets that we are a paying close attention to. In our Group, Hanwha Life Insurance, Hanwha Techwin, and Hanwha Energy have advanced in finance, investment, manufacturing, solar and aviation. Let's take a closer look at the site where Hanwha's name is known in Vietnam.

Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park is located 30 km to the west of Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam. Hanwha Aerospace is the place where Hanwha Aero engine is located. This is the premier factory site built together by five of Hanwha affilates to produce the highest quality products. Hanwha Corporation Machinery Division was responsible for factory automation, Hanwha Chemical was responsible for solar installation, Hanwha Systems for IT, Hanwha Power Systems for air compressor, and Hanwha Techwin for security solutions. Hanwha Aerospace's initiative to produce the world's best aircraft engine parts has begun.

Hanwha Techwin, which introduced its first security camera in 1991, has been working in the video security business for about 30 years and has been building global competitiveness.

In 2017, it established a new manufacturing company at the Que Vo Industrial Park in Bắc Ninh Province, Vietnam, to expand its global foothold. We look forward to the emergence of the Vietnamese subsidiary as a global manufacturing hub.

Hanwha Life Vietnam is the first for Hanwha Group to enter Vietnam. Hanwha Life Insurance entered the Vietnamese insurance market for the first time as a domestic life insurance company in 2009. In 2009, Hanwha Life Insurance built 108 nationwide sales networks based in major cities such as Ho Chi Minh and Hanoi. 4. [Hanwha Aerospace] Contributed to the Successful Nuri Rocket Engine Launch Test

The first fruits of 15 years of Hanwha's sweat! The Nuri rocket test-launching vehicle, which was developed with pure Korean technology, successfully flew on November 28th. Nuri is a Korea's first homegrown carrier rocket. With the success of the test launch, it is now time to launch the Nuri rocket in 2021. Hanwha Aerospace has been focusing on the development of space launch vehicles with purely domestic technologies with Korean researchers.

This test-launching vehicle is even more meaningful in that it was developed with pure domestic technology. Specialized in the development, production and maintenance of aircraft engines, Hanwha Aerospace has been working with the Korean Aerospace Research Institute on the development of projectiles for the past 15 years, and has been responsible for the assembly of engines and turbo pump manufacturing, and has contributed to the successful launch of test vehicle.

To grow into a world-class aerospace company, Hanwha Aerospace will build the first large-scale aviation components factory in Vietnam, providing world-class products and technology. Korea is becoming a space powerhouse and Hanwha Aerospace will continue to develop until the day when the real Nuri rocket is launched in 2021.

1. [Hanwha Group] Created a TV Commercial to Thank Hanwha Eagles Fans

The 2018 Professional baseball season on 12nd Nov. as the last game of the Korean Series finished. The highlights of this season occurred when the Hanwha Eagles ranked the 3rd place during the regular season and then advanced to the playoffs. To cheer for those players who tried with all their might, fans of Hanwha Eagles filled the Eagle Park stadium. The Group created a TV commercial to express their gratitude to the fans, and this commercial is making headlines.

The Group gave a rose and a card to every Hanwha Eagles’ fan in the stadium during the 1st round semi-playoff match. It was the Group’s way to express gratitude to the fans who have shown unchanging support for the team even though the team had struggled for the last 11 years. Following the rose event, the Group made a TV commercial that expressed special appreciation to the fans.

The commercial contains a scene of cheering fans who shout ‘the best Hanwha’ at the players who gave their best during every game. The commercial expresses the will of Hanwha to become the best team with the best fans.

The Hanwha Eagles is coming to the end of their training schedule in Japan right now. We look forward to seeing the Eagles fly higher in the next season after preparing so hard this Winter.

2. [Hanwha Life] Received the 2018 The 100 Great Places to Work in Korea Award

‘The 100 Great Places to Work in Korea Award has been hosted by the GPTW, the Korean subsidiary of the GPTW U.S.A. The GPTW Korea uses the same evaluation process as the one used by Fortune magazine, a renowned economic magazine in the U.S. It lists the best companies to work for in 50 countries every year.

Hanwha Life has received a Great Place to Work for Korean Female Employees award for four consecutive years and one of The 100 Great Places to Work in Korea awards at the 17th Great Work Place Management Conference and Award Ceremony. In addition, Cha Nam-gyu, CEO of Hanwha Life was selected as one of the most respected CEO in Korea for the third consecutive year. At the ceremony, Kim Hyun-Cheol, head of human resources division of Hanwha Life, received the award on behalf of Hanwha Life.

Moreover, Kim Hee-yeon, DSI team manager of Hanwha Life who became a role model for her colleagues by exemplifying work life balance was nominated for the ‘Korea’s Proud Working Mom’ award.

3. [Hanwha Q CELLS] Held a Media Information Session at the 2018 GGGI Energy Forum

On November 30th, Hanwha Q CELLS held a media information session with about 50 media representatives in Korea at Hanwha Q CELLS and Advanced Materials’ Jincheon Plant #2. At the session, Hanwha introduced Hanwha’s solar business and its factories. In the afternoon of the same day, they held the GGIC Energy Forum 2018 with the Global Green Growth Research Center and strengthened their global status as a leading eco-friendly company.

At the media information session, Hanwha Q CELLS introduced the Hanwha Q CELLS and Advanced Materials’ Jincheon Plant, which is one of the largest solar cell smart factories in the world. The media representatives toured the smart factory where the entire production line is automated. They were impressed by the use of the latest technology in production such as a production management system and wearable gear.

In the afternoon, Hanwha Q CELLS held the GGGI Energy Forum 2018 with the Global Green Growth Research Center at the Plaza hotel. At the forum, about 80 people from the energy sector attended and had an opportunity to discuss global energy conversion policies and the direction of Korea’s energy conversion in the future.

At this forum, energy professionals from Korea and abroad sought direction for Korea. They proposed some ideas as they shared cases of other countries that have already implemented energy conversion policies and practices.

Hans-Josef Fell, a former Parliament member and a member of Green Party in Germany, said that renewable energy is the only solution to all kinds of social problems we face today. In his talk, he advised the Korean government to provide tax benefits for renewable energy because companies require assistance to vitalize private investments in order to convert Korea’s energy to more environmentally-friendly sources.

At this forum, Hanwha Q CELLS and the GGGI shared various conversion cases of other countries and formed the consensus that the global energy conversion is required for sustainable growth in the future.

4. [Hanwha Aerospace/Land Defense/Precision Machinery/Power Systems/Techwin] Held an Event for Law-abiding People’s Day

Employees of Hanwha Aerospace, Hanwha Land Defense, Hanwha Precision Machinery, Hanwha Power Systems, and Hanwha Techwin are conducting activities that nominate outstanding law-abiding people inside their companies to assist employees with compliance. To recognize these outstanding people, they held a Law-abiding People’s Day event.

About 100 people attended the 2018 Law-abiding People’s Day event, including the CEOs of five Hanwha affiliates: Hanwha Aerospace, Hanwha Land Defense, Hanwha Precision Machinery, Hanwha Power Systems, and Hanwha Techwin, as well as officials from DAPA and Siemens.

The event was held to vitalize company-wide compliance activities and present a compliance management vision for the company as a whole. Employees took this opportunity to report key performance results and present plans for 2019.

At the following award ceremony, a deputy general manager Huh In-young(허인영) from Hanwha Techwin was selected as an excellent law-abiding employee. Other law-abiding employees also received awards.

Moreover, the five CEOs and the award recipients performed a “hanging fruits on a compliance tree” event. They wrote messages on fruit-shaped cards and hung them on the tree with their commitment to the vitalization of compliance activities.

Hanwha Aerospace and these four other companies will carry out compliance activities to strengthen employees’ law-abiding spirit.
