Hanwha Aeropsace and Hanwha Systems showcase the latest defense technologies at MSPO 2026
Hanwha Aerospace and Hanwha Systems will jointly participate in MSPO 2026 (the 34th International Defence Industry Exhibition) from Sept. 8 to 11 in Kielce, Poland, presenting an expanded defense portfolio tailored to Poland and its NATO allies across Eastern Europe and the Baltic region. The two companies will share a joint stand (Hall 1, Booth A17) under the slogan “Proven Partnership. Strategic Capabilities. Sovereign Defence.”
Grounded in a track record of cooperation with Poland dating back to 2014, when Hanwha’s K9 chassis was selected for the Polish Krab Self-Propelled Howitzer, and further strengthened through the K9 Self-Propelled Howitzer and Chunmoo Multiple Rocket Launcher System (known in Poland as Homar-K) programs, Hanwha’s presence this year highlights multi-layered air defense and laser weapons, ground and naval unmanned systems, and its space AI solution, alongside its proven artillery and ammunition portfolio.
Multi-layered air defense suite
Hanwha Aerospace will showcase a multi-layered air defense line-up designed to counter threats ranging from low-altitude drones to long-range missiles. The display features the L-SAM long-range surface-to-air missile launcher and interceptor, the H-SHORAD short-range air defense system, the H-Shield counter-drone system, and a 40 mm wheeled counter-UAS platform. These systems integrate with Hanwha Systems’ command-and-control (C2) network and interceptor drones to enable a flexible, coordinated response.
Hanwha Systems will also feature Cheon gwang, South Korea’s first operational laser weapon system, alongside a 50 kW laser mounted on an armored vehicle and a 20 kW tactical laser vehicle. With a cost per shot of approximately KRW 2,000 (about USD 1.50), the laser system offers an affordable countermeasure capable of neutralizing micro-drones within seconds.
Manned-unmanned teaming (MUM-T) and naval unmanned systems
In the ground unmanned systems domain, Hanwha will present its MUM-T operational concept through a diorama and actual hardware, linking the K9A1 self-propelled howitzer, an unmanned multiple rocket launcher, and the H-UGV unmanned ground vehicle. Under this concept, the manned howitzer provides fire support while unmanned systems take on reconnaissance and maneuver roles, reducing personnel exposure while extending operational reach. The stand also features the export-variant K-NIFV infantry fighting vehicle and the Active Protection System (APS), designed to improve the survivability of ground forces.
In the naval domain, Hanwha will present unmanned surface vessels (USVs) tailored for Baltic naval modernization efforts, including the Striker-S, a USV integrated with a Chunmoo launcher, accelerating its entry into the unmanned systems market.
Advanced artillery, ammunition, and lifecycle support
Underscoring its long-term commitment to Poland, Hanwha Aerospace is exhibiting the upgraded K9A2 alongside a tailored 155 mm ammunition package, which includes a trajectory-correcting fuze to improve precision and a Modular Charge System (MCS). The company continues to pursue Poland’s third K9 execution contract (EC3).
Addressing Europe’s growing demand for long-range precision fires, Hanwha will display four variants of Chunmoo guided rockets. Hanwha will also demonstrate its maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) capabilities, such as the Health and Usage Monitoring System (HUMS) for predictive maintenance and a K9 turret simulator, emphasizing long-term lifecycle support.
Real-time space AI solution launch
On Sept. 9, Hanwha Systems will host a launch event at MSPO 2026, demonstrating for the first time its proprietary satellite-imagery AI analytics solution as it analyzes, in real time, imagery captured by satellites currently in operation. The system processes electro-optical (EO), infrared (IR), and synthetic aperture radar (SAR) imagery to deliver automated object detection, pattern analysis, and anomaly detection, streamlining tactical decision-making.
