Founded in 1965, Hanwha Advanced Materials has achieved continuous growth based on its innovative product lineup and superior technology in the fields of lightweight composite and photovoltaic materials. With local production and R&D centers in South Korea, North America, Europe, and China, we continue to proactively develop our business operations and earn recognition as a globally advanced materials specialist.
Since entering the automotive materials business in 1986, we have developed a diverse portfolio of products for automobile structures and interiors. Leveraging a broad materials portfolio that includes StrongLite (glass fiber mat reinforced thermoplastics, or GMT), SuperLite (lightweight reinforced thermoplastics, or LWRT), expanded polypropylene (EPP), sheet molding compound (SMC), long fiber reinforced thermoplastics (LFT), and continuous fiber reinforced thermoplastics (CFRTPC), we produce high-performance, lightweight components for electric vehicles and commercial vehicles.
As the only company in the industry that produces multiple types of materials and molding technologies, we provide one-stop solutions from component design to production. Through global production bases in the U.S., China, Europe, and Mexico, we supply products to leading global automakers including Hyundai Motor, Kia, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen, and GM. Our flagship products, StrongLite and SuperLite, have been recognized for both their technological excellence and quality globally, earning the highest market shares in their respective categories.
In addition, leveraging specialized technologies that enable the design of high strength, ultra-lightweight, and eco-friendly materials, we offer innovative composite products such as protection covers for electric vehicle batteries, cooling systems that are both durable and lightweight, and truck beds optimized for pickup truck cargo areas. Our battery pack case, which incorporates a composite structure of sheet molding compound (SMC) and metal, achieves weight reduction while offering excellent durability against impact and vibration. It also provides fire resistance, electromagnetic shielding, and enhanced passenger safety — positioning it as a high-performance battery protection solution.
With extensive production expertise gained from three decades of experience in solar materials, we have developed independent technology to produce EVA sheets and backsheets for modules as we expand into the European, American, and Southeast Asian markets. The only company capable of producing large-scale products using the Calender and T-Die method, we are demonstrating outstanding performance in the global market.
By establishing a local corporation in Georgia, U.S., we have built an operational base for Hanwha Advanced Materials’ solar energy business in North America. In 2024, we completed a new production plant in Texas, further strengthening our capabilities in the production of electric vehicle components and our responsiveness to customers. Building on this foundation, we aim to enhance the competitiveness of our solar materials business while advancing toward our goal of becoming the global No. 1 in high-performance lightweight composite materials.
