Founded in 1976, Hanwha Galleria specializes in retail services with a strong focus on department stores. Along with Galleria Luxury Hall, South Korea’s first and premier department store, we provide differentiated customer experiences through a network of department stores in various locations. We also operate other retail businesses, including global brand direct sourcing, retail sales of exclusive brands, and food and beverage (F&B) operations.
Currently, we have five stores in South Korea, located in the major cities of Seoul, Suwon (Gwanggyo), Cheonan, Daejeon, and Jinju. Together, the Galleria department stores offer an unparalleled suite of upscale shopping experiences. Each store features distinctive brands and caters to local fashion trends, while also offering a food culture sure to satisfy every discerning taste. All our stores have improved performance through unique luxury merchandising, unrivaled VIP marketing, and premium branding, with these efforts resulting in record-high sales and operating profit in 2021.
Galleria Luxury Hall in Seoul is South Korea’s preeminent department store, featuring a collection of the world’s leading luxury brands. Galleria Gwanggyo boasts the largest department store operated by Hanwha Galleria and offers a new paradigm of widely appreciated, nature-friendly multicultural shopping complexes. Located in the metropolitan city of Daejeon, Galleria Timeworld specializes in luxury fashion brands from around the world and offers the ultimate in customer convenience solidifying its reputation as the premier luxury shopping destination in the region. We also operate Centercity, an arts and cultural center in central South Korea, and Galleria Jinju, a premier department store in the western region of South Gyeongsang Province.
Our fashion business mainly focuses on retailing exclusive brands and stores. We source directly from global luxury fashion houses, such as Italy’s Stefano Ricci and luxury daily wear brand James Perse. Our collection of select premium brands and our ability to source the most exclusive fashion items are unmatched in the markets we operate in, a competitive advantage that enables us to keep expanding our footprint. We also operate high-end fashion boutiques including G. STREET 494 HOMME, one of the world’s finest names in menswear.
Galleria Gwanggyo
Our food and beverage business continues to grow, with the Gourmet 494 brand serving as a central pillar of that expansion. Gourmet 494 remains a customer favorite thanks to its premium quality, offering a variety of private brand products developed and launched using ingredients carefully selected by Galleria and through collaborations with renowned local and global restaurants. In parallel, we are expanding other ventures, including the successful introduction of the popular U.S. burger chain Five Guys to South Korea in 2023. We currently operate seven branches in areas including Gangnam and Yeouido, with plans to expand to 15 stores.
