Hanwha Machinery & Service Holdings (Hanwha M&S) officially launched August 3, marking the establishment of a new holding company dedicated to strengthening Hanwha Group's tech and life solutions through greater specialization and synergy.
The company held an inaugural ceremony, where it formally announced its establishment. The same day, its board of directors approved key measures, including the appointment of executive management, the establishment of board committees, and the adoption of internal governance policies.
Hanwha M&S serves as the holding company for two core business units. Its Technology Solutions portfolio includes Hanwha Vision, Hanwha Semitech, Hanwha Momentum, and Hanwha Robotics, while its Life Solutions portfolio comprises Hanwha Galleria, Hanwha Hotels & Resorts, and Ourhome.
Including second-tier domestic and overseas subsidiaries, Hanwha M&S oversees a total of 57 affiliated companies. Based on consolidated financial results as of end-2025, the company generated approximately 6 trillion won in annual revenue with total assets of 11.3 trillion won. Hanwha Vision and Hanwha Galleria are listed on the Korea Exchange.
Hanwha M&S has appointed Hyung-jo Kim as the inaugural Chief Executive Officer. Since joining Hanwha Group in 1994, Hyung-jo Kim has accumulated more than three decades of experience in business strategy and operational leadership. Most recently, he served as CEO of Hanwha Hotels & Resorts from 2021 to 2025.
Greater specialization and synergies to strengthen competitiveness at the company level
The establishment of Hanwha M&S and the realignment of related companies aims to strengthen the competitiveness of each business by enhancing specialization in each field while generating greater synergies across the portfolio.
With Hanwha M&S at the helm, tech and life solutions units will deploy business strategies tailored to industry characteristics and the market environment to enhance long-term corporate and shareholder value.
"The new holding company structure is expected to help unlock the full value of our tech and life solutions businesses, while accelerating investment and business expansion," a Hanwha M&S official said. "We believe both portfolios have the potential to become major growth pillars for Hanwha Group."
Dong Seon Kim, President and Head of Future Strategy, also attended the launch ceremony, reaffirming the company's commitment to innovation and future growth under the new holding company structure.
Having led future business development initiatives across Hanwha's tech and life solutions businesses, Dong Seon Kim will now focus on identifying new growth opportunities, shaping long-term business strategies, and fostering future growth engines at Hanwha M&S.
Dong Seon Kim was recently promoted to president for his leadership in expanding Hanwha's presence in tech solutions. This includes accomplishments in the semiconductor equipment business — including major orders for TC bonders used in high-bandwidth memory (HBM) production — and advancing the company's foothold in emerging global markets, including the Middle East and India.
"By establishing a management system centered on greater specialization, we will strengthen our business and enhance efficiency," said Hyung-jo Kim, CEO of Hanwha M&S. "We are committed to creating growth that contributes not only to our businesses but also to the broader development of society."
The spin-off of Hanwha M&S was approved at Hanwha Corporation’s extraordinary shareholders' meeting on July 15. Hanwha M&S is scheduled to be listed on the Korea Exchange on August 25, 2026.
