Hanwha Solutions participates in ‘Wire China 2026’, targeting the offshore wind cable materials market

Hanwha Solutions Wire & Cable Division participated in ‘Wire China 2026,’ an international wire and cable exhibition held in Shanghai, China, where the company showcased next-generation technologies including extra-high-voltage cable materials and circular solutions. Hanwha Solutions also signed memorandums of understanding (MOUs) with two of China’s leading cable companies, ZTT (Zhongtian Technology Submarine Cable) and Hengtong, for the joint development of cable materials.

Building on its participation in the exhibition and technical collaboration with ZTT, Hanwha Solutions aims to strengthen its business foothold in China’s extra-high-voltage transmission and offshore wind markets while accelerating the expansion of its global high-value-added cable materials business.

Hanwha Solutions announced on September 21 that it was participating in ‘Wire China 2026,’ an international wire and cable exhibition held in Shanghai, China, from September 21 to 24.

Wire China brought together global cable manufacturers as well as materials and equipment companies to showcase the latest products and technologies in the wire and cable sector. It also served as a platform where business partnership opportunities were explored.

At this year’s exhibition, Hanwha Solutions presented under the slogan “Best Quality, Better Planet,” highlighting both its high-performance cable materials technologies and sustainable circular solutions. The company also adopted a booth design featuring newly introduced UX-based digital exhibition tools and customer consultation functions to expand engagement with global customers and actively pursue technical consultations and partnership discussions.

In particular, Hanwha Solutions exhibited a cable model incorporating next-generation SEHV (Super Extra-High Voltage, 500kV-class) cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) and semiconductive materials, demonstrating its insulation reliability and materials technology for extra-high-voltage power transmission environments.

In addition, Hanwha Solutions unveiled its “Closed Loop” solution for circular XLPE, powered by its proprietary decrosslinking technology. Through a cable model incorporating recycled XLPE and semiconductive materials, the company aimed to demonstrate the potential of a circular economy approach that enables waste cable materials to be reused as new cable materials.

Hanwha Solutions also expanded its technical collaboration with major Chinese cable companies. During the exhibition on September 22, the company signed separate memorandums of understanding (MOUs) with ZTT and Hengtong. With ZTT, Hanwha Solutions agreed to pursue the joint development of 132kV-class wet-type offshore wind TR XLPE, as well as semiconductive materials package and cable. With Hengtong, the company agreed to cooperate on the joint development of XLPE insulation materials and semiconductive shielding materials for SEHV, subsea and HVDC cables.

TR-XLPE (Tree Retardant Cross-linked Polyethylene), which Hanwha Solutions is developing with ZTT, is a high-performance material that plays a critical role in ensuring the long-term insulation reliability of offshore wind power cables that may be continuously exposed to moisture. Hanwha Solutions will supply 132kV-class TR-XLPE insulation materials and semiconductive materials, as well as provide technical support, while ZTT will manufacture cable samples using the supplied materials and verify their performance.

Through its MOU with Hengtong, Hanwha Solutions also plans to expand the supply of materials for high-voltage cables in China by leveraging its production capabilities for XLPE and semiconductive materials.
