Solarcentury Chooses Hanwha Q CELLS Q.PRO Modules to Power 15 MW UK Solar Park

November 20, 2013
  • Hanwha Q CELLS delivers 59,479 modules for solar park in Norwich, UK
  • Around 14,600 MWh per year will be enough to power over 3,500 homes

Hanwha Q CELLS is underlining its strong presence in Europe by expanding business in the UK: the internationally leading Photovoltaics (PV) specialist signed a contract with Solarcentury, a UK-based developer and EPC provider, to supply PV panels for a solar farm in Hardingham, UK. The 15 Megawatt plant is currently being constructed and will consist of 59,479 Q CELLS Q.PRO modules, providing around 14,636 MWh of clean energy per year, enough to power over 3,500 homes. Solarcentury has developed the project and is responsible for engineering, procurement and construction (EPC). Solarcentury chose EU-made Q CELLS modules due to their high performance, superior quality and exceptional bankability.

Frans van den Heuvel, CEO of Solarcentury said “Hanwha Q CELLS combines excellent German quality and high yields with secure bankability. We have been very pleased with their collaboration on this project.”

Hanwha Q CELLS emphasises its growing UK market penetration by supplying its PV modules for the Hardingham solar park. Due to its growing production capacity, which now tops 1.1 GW, Hanwha Q CELLS can scale its deliveries to fit the needs of EPC providers and developers globally, with Solarcentury being the latest customer.

Jonathan Goose, Director Sales UK, Ireland and Scandinavia at Hanwha Q CELLS said: “We are pleased to partner with Solarcentury as the company is one of the leading EPC providers and developers in the UK. Its choice of Q CELLS Q.PRO modules is further evidence that the high quality and performance of our ‘Engineered in Germany’ products pays off.”
