1. [Hanwha Defense Affiliates] Participated in DefExpo, India’s Largest Defense Exhibition

DefExpo, which has its 11th anniversary this year, is the largest defense exhibition in India, with 1,000 companies from over 70 countries participating.

Hanwha’s defense affiliates, Hanwha Corporation, Hanwha Defense, and Hanwha Systems, participated in the largest scale among Korean companies to target India and Southwest Asia.

Hanwha’s defense affiliates participated in the international defense exhibition ’DefExpo 2020’, held in Lucknow, India, and opened an integrated booth of 250 square meters to introduce the latest ground weapon systems and advanced defense electronics products for the Indian market.

We hope that Hanwha’s defense business will expand globally by actively targeting the Indian defense market, which is expected to grow rapidly.

2. [LIFEPLUS: Hanwha Financial Division’s Brand] Won the iF Design Award

LIFEPLUS has gained worldwide recognition not only in finance but also in design!

Following last year’s Red Dot Design Award, LIFEPLUS won the main prize at this year’s iF Design Awards, winning two of the world's top three design awards.

It received excellent reviews for interpreting the value of ’finance that makes customers’ lives better’ into symbols, logotypes, fonts, and goods as an active life.

3. [Hanwha Precision Machinery] Participated in the IPC APEX Exhibition

Hanwha Precision Machinery participated in IPC APEX, the largest SMT exhibition in North America, held every year in San Diego. It was a good opportunity to promote the excellence of Hanwha brand products in the North American market.

The main product that Hanwha Precision Machinery exhibited at this IPC APEX was the HM520, a high-speed chip mounter.

Hanwha Galleria held a vision briefing session for the new year in 2020. The executives and employees gathered together to share the new vision and build a commitment to achieve this.

4. [Hanwha Group] Hanwha Science Challenge 2019 Winners Visit Overseas

The Hanwha Science Challenge, the nation’s top high school science competition, is a program that discovers and fosters gifted science students who are striving for a better future for the planet and humanity. Science prodigies who performed well in last year’s competition visited overseas research institutes, including the Hanwha Q CELLS R&D Center in Germany.

The Group gave science prodigies who dream of winning future Nobel Prizes a chance to visit various renewable energy research institutes during the eight-day overseas tour that they were interested in.

1.[Hanwha Group] Hanwha Building in Seoul, Turns Into an Eco-friendly Intelligent Building

The company’s building is often used as a symbol of corporate identity and unique culture. After 45 months of renovation, Hanwha Building in Janggyo-dong was reborn as an eco-friendly intelligent building.

The Hanwha Building, which had won the Seoul Architecture Award, made another transformation.

The Hanwha Building in Janggyo-dong is attracting attention for its unique exterior. The solar power technology was used for remodeling to match its reputation as the world's No.1 solar power company by cell production. A curtain wall with solar panels was installed on the exterior of the building, becoming a solar building that produces electricity. Solar panels are decorated with state-of-the-art designs, highlighting the Group’s eco-friendly image, as well as enhancing energy efficiency.

The newly remodeled Hanwha Building is credited with successfully enhancing its corporate image by applying state-of-the-art energy technology to corporate philosophy.

2. [Hanwha Q CELLS] Won the Presidential Award for New Growth Management

Hanwha Q CELLS created more than 2,000 jobs by investing in domestic manufacturing and research facilities, won the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Award in the Job Creation Award in 2017 and the Presidential Citation in the Korea Job Awards in 2018. On December 12, Hanwha Q CELLS received the Presidential commendation, the highest award, at the 16th Korea New Growth Management Awards.

The Korea New Growth Management Awards are given to companies that have fostered new industries and actively implemented innovation by discovering next-generation growth engines.

3. [Hanwha Total Petrochemical] Selected as a World Class Product for 5 Consecutive Years

Hanwha Total Petrochemical has once again been recognized for its world-class technological prowess and product excellence, producing world-class products for five consecutive years in high-value materials.

Hanwha Total Petrochemical’s polypropylene for display material protection film has been selected as one of the world’s leading products of the year, which is certified by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency.

PP for protective film is a material used to protect the surface of the display material from dust and contamination that occurs during processing and transport within the manufacturing process of the display device. In particular, based on the Hanwha Total Petrochemical’s independent technology, the film replaced the Japanese products that had been monopolizing the market and achieved the world's No. 1 market share (34%, 2018), showing off the excellence in the global market as well as localizing material technology.

Hanwha Total Petrochemical expects the polypropylene market for high value-added display material protection films, which is currently estimated at 28,000 tons per year, to continue to grow more than 7% annually.

4. [Hanwha Life, Hanwha General Insurance] Selected as a Consumer-Centered Management Excellent Company

Consumer-centered management (CCM) certification is a system that evaluates and certifies whether all management activities are organized around consumers and steadily improving them. Hanwha Life and Hanwha General Insurance have received the highest certifications for the major management activities that have taken place over the past two years.

Hanwha Life was awarded the ‘Hall of Fame’ award at the Consumer Centered Management (CCM) Excellence Awards held by the Fair Trade Commission and Korea Consumer Resources.

Hanwha Life has organized product development, sales, and customer service in line with consumer values and needs, and has conducted various activities to prevent complaints as well as handling customer complaints through VOC big data. 1. [Hanwha Aerospace] Signed Contract with Rolls-Royce to Supply Cutting-edge Aircraft Engine Parts

Hanwha Aerospace has signed a contract with the global aircraft engine manufacturer, Rolls-Royce of the United Kingdom, to supply cutting-edge aircraft engine parts worth about $1 billion which is about 1.2 trillion won in Korean currency. The engine parts supplied by Hanwha Aerospace will be available for at least 25 years from 2021 to 2045, which will be part of the Turbine Seal, which will be fitted to all types of Trent engines produced by Rolls-Royce. Also, depending on the circumstances, the supply may be increased further until the engine reaches its end of its term.

Hanwha Aerospace has been mainly supplying engine cases and etc. Through this contract, Hanwha Aerospace has entered the turbine parts business, the core of the engine. This allows Hanwha Aerospace to diversify its portfolio to various products in the turbine section. In particular, the company will supply all of its products at its Vietnam plant, which started operation last year, and this contract seems to have been recognized that Hanwha Aerospace is globally competitive in manufacturing.

Hanwha Aerospace has established itself as a strategic partner of Rolls-Royce based on the manufacturing know-how and quality that has been accumulated as a manufacturer of aviation engine parts for the past 40 years. We support Hanwha Aerospace's powerful rise towards the world.

2. [Hanwha Systems] Listed on KOSPI

Hanwha Systems, the only defense and IT service convergence company in Korea, was newly listed on the securities market on November 13. Hanwha Systems’ initial public offering was the largest among the listed corporations this year, attracting a lot of attention from investors and successfully entering the market.

After the listing, Hanwha systems plans to develop synergy in defense and ICT in line with the establishment of a new network-oriented security environment. The company will create new opportunities in the future market through new projects in cyber security, surveillance and aviation, along with the construction of the second data center.

Hanwha Systems succeeded in IPO with the attention of domestic and foreign institutions and general investors. With the listing of KOSPI, we expect Hanwha Systems to become a global leading company in defense and ICT industry.

3. [Hanwha Communications Committee] Won the First Prize at The Korea PR Awards

The Korea PR Award ceremony is designed to boost the PR industry by discovering and presenting outstanding PR activities and outstanding practitioners every year. The Hanwha Proud Campaign, which shares the moments of pride as a member of Hanwha, won the first prize in the Internal Communications category at the Korea PR Award ceremony.

Hanwha Group, which has more than 350 branch offices around the world, conducted the Hanwha Proud Campaign to strengthen the bonds of employees and promote their sense of belonging. 1. [Hanwha Group] Held 67th Anniversary Ceremony

The group celebrated its 67th anniversary on October 9th. In his commemorating message, Chairman Seung Youn Kim said, " This is the time we must reawaken the spirit of our foundational days, and we must inspire people’s dreams, and elevate ourselves to be a company that gives strength to our society." In response, each of the companies held its own ceremonies to mark the founding of the Group and pledged to prepare for a new era of change and take a bigger leap forward.

In addition, each company held its own ceremony to thank the long-term employees for their contribution to the company's development and had time to reflect on the meaning of the Group's 67th anniversary.

2. [Hanwha Group] Held Hanwha Global Communications Workshop 2019

PR ambassadors of the Hanwha brand who spread the value and culture of global Hanwha! They're global reporters. Thirty-four global reporters who have struggled to bring the news of the global Hanwha to executives and employees in different parts of the world have gathered together.

Marking its fourth year, Hanwha Global Communication Workshop was attended by a total of 34 global reporters working at 23 overseas subsidiaries and headquarters in 10 countries under nine companies including Hanwha Corporation, Hanwha Life Insurance and Hanwha Chemical.

In the first training session, they had time to understand Hanwha. They learned about the history and core values of the Group, participated in the training of the Group's brand management and their work as newsletter reporters, and took the time to learn about the Group.

On the second day, global reporters took a special lecture on social impact and business activities that created social values. In the lecture, examples of purpose-oriented leadership that can have a positive impact on society as well as sustainable growth had been introduced. After that, the reporters were also able to learn how to create global newsletter content, such as interviewing and taking pictures.

On the third day, they visited Hanwha Historical Museum, located in the site of Hanwha Corporation’s Incheon Plant, which is the Hanwha Group's matrix, and Hanwha Q CELL Jincheon Plant, the world's largest high-efficiency solar energy production line. They were able to remind themselves again that Hanwha is a company that never ceases to be passionate about contributing to the country and society.

3. [Hanwha Defense Affiliates] Participated in 2019 AUSA

The defense affiliates of Hanwha participated in the defense exhibition in Washington, D.C. to introduce Hanwha's defense technology to the world by setting up an integrated exhibition booth.
They also participated in the ADEX 2019, Seoul International Aerospace & Defense Exhibition, and introduced a new solution to keep pace with the technological changes of the fourth industrial revolution under the concept of 'Hanwha 4.0'.

The AUSA 2019 is the world's largest ground-based military defense exhibition organized by the Association of the United States Army (AUSA), which annually participates in more than 800 major defense companies worldwide, including the United States, Germany, United Kingdom and Israel.

In keeping with the advancement of US ground forces, Hanwha defense affiliates attracted great attention by revealing key capabilities such as next-generation combat vehicles, next-generation military communication networks, anti-aircraft solutions, and precision guided munitions.

Hanwha's defense affiliates, which participated in the ADEX 2019 exhibition, prepared a 1,320-square-meter large exhibition booth to introduce a number of advanced, intelligent and unmanned solutions that are aligned with rapid changes in the technology paradigm, including the fourth industrial revolution under the concept of ‘Hanwha 4.0’.

Hanwha's defense affiliates will continue to present various solutions to modernize and advance existing weapon systems and actively strive for Hanwha's technological prowess and global partnership capabilities.

4. [Hanwha Group] Held ‘2019 Chungcheong Marathon with Hanwha’

The 2019 Chungcheong Marathon with Hanwha was held in Sejong City on October 19, a festival of marathoners from all over the country to strengthen health and harmony in the deepening fall.

As it is the largest festival-style marathon event for families in Chungcheong Province, various experience courses and attractions for participants and their families had been prepared to add to the joy.

This year, Hanwha employees working in Seoul, Changwon, Gumi and Yeosu as well as Chungcheong province joined the group-sponsored event.

Finally, with the starter’s pistol, the participants' powerful strides began. Including marathoners, a total of 5,800 executives and employees of Hanwha affiliates, marathon club members and ordinary citizens participated in the event, and they competed in the full-course, half-course, 10km and 5km races.

The 2019 Chungcheong Marathon with Hanwha has evolved into a cultural festival where various members of society, from children to teenagers and marathon experts, can participate and enjoy. It has become a valuable venue for challenge and communication.

5. [Hanwha Group] Held Hanwha Seoul International Fireworks Festival 2019

The Hanwha Seoul International Fireworks Festival 2019, a representative autumn night festival that celebrated its 17th anniversary this year, ended in successfully.

People could remember the most colorful moments and make another shining memory through this fireworks festival.

The theme of this year's festival was “Life is Colorful”, which means that the positive energy that we've never experienced before is expressed in vibrant colors.

Starting with the Chinese team under the theme of "The Starry Night," there was a performance by a Swedish team under the theme of "Color of the North." Beautiful music melodies and fireworks combined to brighten the night sky.

And finally, Hanwha Corporation Team, which represents Korea, expressed the emotions about our stellar moments under the theme of "Star."

1. [Hanwha Q CELLS] Held the Hanwha Classic 2019

The Hanwha Classic 2019, the first major competition of the second half of the KLPGA Tour, marked the start of the fall festival season!

Total prize money of 1.4 billion won!!! Who is the best player of the season? In the Hanwha Classic 2019, many of the world's top ranked players participated in this year's event, making it even more competitive as an international competition.

The Hanwha Classic, which is famous for domestic and overseas golf players, contributed to Korean women's professional golf and established itself as Korea's largest major competition. The host company changed from Hanwha Corporation to Hanwha Q CELLS and took over sponsorship of the 2019 Hanwha Classic Competition.

In a final round twist, the winner is unknown until the end! The Hanwha Classic 2019 was won by Park Chae-yoon. She shot a 3-under 69 with four birdies and a bogey in the final round to win the thrilling victory trophy with a combined total of 5-under 283. She won 350 million won in prize money in this competition, and jumped to second place on the KLPGA money list.

The Hanwha Classic 2019: with total prize money of 1.4 billion won, the best courses, and the best players! Hanwha plans to continue to provide support and efforts for the development of the domestic golf tournament.

2. [Hanwha Defense] Signed an MOU with Indian L&T Corporation

Hanwha Defense signed an MOU with India's major defense contractor, L&T, on September 6 during the visit of Indian Defense Minister Rajnath Singh.

The MOU signing ceremony was held at the Millennium Hilton Hotel in Seoul, and was attended by executives and employees from both companies, including Lee Seong-soo, CEO of Hanwha Defense , Rajnath Singh, Minister of India Defense Ministry, and Jayant Patil, CEO of L&T Defense.

Hanwha Defense signed a contract to export K9 self-propelled guns, which amounted to $ 6.5 billion, the largest defense contract signed by the Ministry of Defense of India with a private company since 2017.

Through this MOU, Hanwha Defense and L&T will secure additional export volume of K9 self-propelled guns through a follow-up project with India's Ministry of National Defense and cooperate in light electric vehicle projects for neighboring countries such as Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.

3. [Hanwha Precision Machinery] Participated in the Hanwha Europe Technical Center Opening Ceremony

Hanwha Precision Machinery participated in the opening ceremony of Hanwha European Technical Center, which opened near Frankfurt, Germany.

More than 10 kinds of equipment such as chip mounters, cooperative robots, and machine tools, which are major products of Hanwha Precision Machinery, are displayed and operated in the Hanwha Europe Technical Center.

In addition, Hanwha Precision Machinery will utilize this technology center as a forward base for large-scale projects in Europe and to attract new customers as a local base for providing global-level technologies and services to local customers.

4. [Hanwha Q CELLS] Held a grand opening ceremony of the Dalton Factory in Georgia, U.S.

Hanwha Q CELLS Dalton Plant, located in Georgia, U.S., is about 28,000 square meters in size with 650 local employees.

A grand opening ceremony for Hanwha Q CELLS Dalton plant in Georgia, which started operating in February this year, was held on September 20. The solar modules produced at the Dalton plant generate about 1.7 GW per year, which is similar to the maximum output of Hoover Dam, the largest dam in the United States. This is more than the amount of new solar energy installed in 49 states last year, except California.

The products produced here will also be supplied to the Facebook data center in eastern Atlanta. Hanwha Q CELLS plans to provide the best products and services to customers in the US, one of the world's largest solar markets based on the Georgia Dalton plant.

Hanwha defense affiliates participated in the DSEI (Defense and Security Equipment International) 2019 in London, England, and Hanwha Q CELLS participated in the Solar Power International 2019, the largest solar energy exhibition in North America held in Salt Lake City, Utah, to explore the global market.

‘DSEI 2019’, which has its 20th anniversary this year, is the largest defense exhibition with 1,600 companies from 70 countries, including European countries.

Hanwha's defense affiliate has prepared the largest exhibition booth among Korean companies and has received keen attention from visitors by unveiling various product lines in the field of ground and air systems, such as K9 self-propelled guns, REDBACK battle armored vehicles, as well as in the defense and ammunition sectors such as Quantum Eye, export type propellants, etc..
